About Us

This Australian Government initiative provides funding to build critical mass in research ventures between end users and researchers which tackle clearly articulated major challenges and provide concrete benefits for the end users. Cooperative Research Centres pursue solutions to these challenges in ways that are innovative, of high impact and are capable of being effectively deployed.

A CRC is an organisation formed through collaborative partnerships between publicly funded researchers and end users. CRCs comprise at least one Australian end user (either from the private, public or community sector) and one Australian higher education institution (or research institute affiliated with a university).

Since the commencement of the CRC Program in 1991 there have been 12 CRC selection rounds and there are currently 42 CRCs operating.
